Code of Conduct
The PVTRA fosters a family-friendly environment rooted in respect and tradition.
Preamble
The Prairie View Trail Ride Association (PVTRA) is committed to upholding the values of the Cowboy Way—integrity, respect, community, and perseverance. All individuals associated with PVTRA, whether engaging in person or online, are expected to act as ambassadors of our Western heritage and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the Association, its mission, and its community.
General Expectations
Respect for Others
- Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of race, gender, religion, or background.
- Maintain a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters camaraderie and collaboration through respectful communication, teamwork, and mutual support.
Commitment to Tradition
- Uphold the values of the Cowboy Way, including honesty, fairness, accountability, and hard work.
- Preserve and celebrate the heritage of the Black Western experience and its traditions.
Personal Accountability
- Take responsibility for personal conduct at all times, both in person and online.
- Actively support PVTRA's mission and comply with all applicable PVTRA policies, rules, and directives.
Conduct on the Trail
- All participants must comply with trail ride and safety guidelines established by PVTRA and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (HLSR).
- Alcohol, drugs, disruptive behavior, or conduct that compromises safety is strictly prohibited during PVTRA events.
- Instructions issued by PVTRA officials, scouts, and safety bosses must be followed without delay or dispute.
- Campsites, trails, and facilities must be maintained in a clean, respectful, and orderly condition.
- Approved Western attire is required in accordance with PVTRA and HLSR standards.
Online Conduct
Respect and Civility
- Online communication must remain respectful and free from harassment, threats, or inflammatory language.
Representation of PVTRA
- Members must recognize that online activity reflects upon PVTRA.
- Unauthorized use of PVTRA names, logos, or symbols is prohibited.
Content and Privacy
- Confidential or sensitive PVTRA information must not be shared.
- Images, videos, or personal information of others may not be posted without consent.
Prohibited Activities
- Harassment, bullying, discrimination, or intimidation.
- Fighting, disorderly conduct, or profanity in any PVTRA-related setting.
- Reckless, unsafe, or behavior contrary to PVTRA's mission or traditional values, including online conduct.
Enforcement
- Violations of this Code of Conduct are enforced pursuant to the PVTRA Rules of Participation and applicable organizational authority.
- Reported violations may be reviewed by the Executive Committee or its designee.
- Consequences may include warnings, probation, suspension, expulsion, or permanent removal depending on severity and history.
- Repeated or severe misconduct may result in immediate removal from PVTRA events and activities.
